Yes, British Sandwich Week is almost here (May 22 – 28), so get ready to join in the fun as we invite you to unleash your inner sandwich artisan in our “Create Your Signature Sarnie” competition. A Brief History of British Sandwiches
Did you know that the British sandwich dates back to the 18th century? Legend has it that John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, was such a dedicated gambler that he didn’t want to leave the gaming table for a proper meal. Instead, he requested his servant to bring him some meat between two slices of bread. Thus, the concept of the sandwich was born! Since then, the British sandwich has evolved into a culinary icon, offering endless possibilities for flavour combinations and satisfying our hunger with every bite.
